As the saying goes “How do you know if someone is a skydiver…”“…Because they’ll be the first to tell you.”Indoor skydiving noise levels get to crazy levels, and without hearing protection your ears won’t last long at all. ANY form of hearing protection when you’re in noise is better than nothing. No matter whether your at a gig, shooting, or working in noise. Look after your ears, you only have one set of them. #hearing #hearingloss #hearingprotection

Do indoor skydiving businesses provide ear protection to customers, or do you have to bring your own?

AI is also taking over diagnostic audiology too... 🤯 🤯 🤯 I like new tech, a lot... and now that GPT 4-o can process images, I have had some real fun with it.Check out an interaction that I had this morning after asking for an interpretation of a tymp result. What do you think this means for medicine as a whole?#hearing #hearingloss #hearingaids

Today I heard the best quote: “Winners focus on the goal. Losers focus on the winners”Don’t get lost in the noise of what everyone else is doing. Especially here on LinkedIn. Be a winner.

Having recently come across this article highlighting famous musicians with hearing loss (https://lnkd.in/eRHjUH8M), it has given me the opportunity to reflect on the last eight years of our work protecting those at risk of noise induced hearing loss through music. As a passionate advocate for preserving the auditory prowess of musicians, I am thrilled to share the remarkable journey of the Musicians' Hearing Health Scheme; founded in collaboration with Help Musicians, the Musicians' Union (MU), and the INCORPORATED SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS TRUST (ISM), our initiative stands as a beacon of support and education for musicians across the nation, safeguarding the hearing health of our musical community.Since its inception, our scheme has resonated with over18,500 musiciansacross the UK. These artists—whether they wield guitars, violins, or drumsticks—have walked through our doors seeking more than just music. They’ve come for their most precious instrument: their ears.At the heart of our scheme lies comprehensive hearing assessments tailored specifically for musicians. These assessments, conducted by our expert audiologists at , are designed to detect early signs of hearing damage and provide personalised recommendations for protection and preservation. One of the most significant aspects of our scheme is the provision of heavily subsidised hearing protection. Recognising the financial constraints often faced by musicians, we are committed to ensuring that cost is never a barrier to safeguarding their hearing. Through our partnership with industry-leading manufacturers, we offer top-quality earplugs and custom-made ear molds at accessible rates, empowering musicians to protect their most precious asset: their hearing. However, our efforts extend beyond mere provision. Education lies at the core of our initiative. We are dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of noise-induced hearing loss and empowering musicians with the knowledge they need to make informed choices about their hearing health. Workshops, seminars, and online resources serve as invaluable tools in this endeavor, equipping musicians with practical strategies for mitigating risk and promoting long-term auditory wellness.I extend my deepest gratitude to all those who have contributed to the success of the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme. Your support, dedication, and advocacy are the driving forces behind our mission, and it is through our collective efforts that we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of musicians everywhere.Check out my full blog over on our website: https://lnkd.in/epMgekc6

Realistic expectations are important when fitting hearing aids, so we don’t promise anything like this…

I'm making progress! I have two passions in life, ears and skydiving. A few months ago I started campaigning for better awareness of the dangers of noise exposure when skydiving, of which there is currently nothing, (YES NOTHING) in place to educate and warn anyone skydiving of the dangerously high levels of sound that we're exposed to when skydiving. The #hearforyears campaign is my push for raising that awareness, and after a brainstorm on where to start with Kevin Dynan (the Safety and Training Officer for British Skydiving) we decided the first place to begin would be with skydivers themselves, and then for us to work our way up the food chain. In this month's British Skydiving publication you can see my first attempt of doing just this, which goes out to the 6,600 UK based skydivers, and 60,000 student. If your non-UK based, please share this message. We only have one set of ears. Once the UK's longest winter ends and the jumping season starts again, phase two for the campaign begins. Watch this space. Blue skies.Check out the original post here: https://lnkd.in/ezPbE2ST#hearing #hearingloss
