Cheers to a Deaf Accessible Thanksgiving & Inclusive Holiday SeasonAVA is a great app, with a free version, available to help people who are hearing to communicate with people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. A crowded Thanksgiving table can make it much harder for clear communication, and the AVA app on smartphones can help improve the situation. There’s a good chance that even before making it to the dinner table, many conjure ideas about how they can bow out of the conversation in order to avoid the dreaded Dinner Table Syndrome. A phenomenon in which Deaf people are excluded from dinner conversations when surrounded by hearing people, Dinner Table Syndrome can make it difficult for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people to engage in discourse. For more information: https://lnkd.in/gM6RV75F#APTAT #assistivetechnology

Hearing aids are devices that help people with hearing loss by amplifying sounds. They come in different types, such as behind-the-ear, in-the-ear, and in-the-canal, completely in the canal and consist of several components. The main components of a hearing aid include a microphone, which collects sounds from the environment and converts them into electrical signals. These signals are then amplified by an amplifier and processed by circuitry and a processor. The processed signals are sent to a receiver, which converts them back into sound (acoustic energy)and delivers them to the ear.Hearing aids are powered by batteries and often have control settings that allow users to adjust the volume and customize settings based on their preferences and hearing needs. The overall working process involves sound reception, signal conversion, amplification and processing, signal delivery, sound transmission, and user adjustment. It's important to note that modern hearing aids often incorporate advanced technologies like digital signal processing, wireless connectivity, and artificial intelligence algorithms to improve speech clarity, reduce background noise, and provide a more personalized hearing experience.#audiologist #hearinghealth #hearingloss #hearingaids #hearing #virel #linkedin #video #betterhearing #knowledgesharing #knowledge

It's a 7 minute read but with this exciting new tech likely to transform how we all interact with audio in public spaces, it's worth the time; particularly if you are considering investing in a new hearing aid now.

What we are doing isn’t new, trying to reduce barriers for those with hearing loss. However, what we are pushing to innovate is the quality and availability of unbiased information. Technology is one step along the journey to better hearing and if individuals can face it with less uncertainty and mistrust, we are doing our job. It’s been a pleasure working with Drs. Abram Bailey and Andrew Sabin throughout this process. #hearingloss #hearingaids #hearinglossawareness #hearadvisor
