What do you say to a Teacher Appreciation Week? ›

We are so thankful for everything that you're doing in the classroom and in the schools that you work in. Everything that you do for kids is so meaningful and powerful. And we're so appreciative that you put your heart and soul into teaching. Your kids are super lucky to have you and so are we!

Interview students about their teachers. Ask both serious and funny questions: “What do you appreciate most about your teacher?” “What that your teacher has said has really stuck with you?” “If your teacher were a cartoon character, who would he or she be?

Encourage individuals or teams of teachers to present at conferences. Provide the funding to support those efforts, which will motivate teachers and bring recognition to your school. Keep the candy jar in the staff lounge full of chocolate and/or hard candy. Offer a once-a-month "theme week" in the faculty lounge.

How to get parents involved in teacher appreciation week? ›

Parents are always looking for ways to give back to their children's teachers. Ask them to donate gifts or gift cards to show teachers they appreciate their hard work. Show thanks to your teachers with goodie bags! Fill them with candy, mugs, a gift card for coffee, etc.

Legally, most public school teachers are not allowed to accept gifts worth more than $50, but even if a family gives me a $5 gift, I think about the time and labor that went into it… and frankly, feel uncomfortable.

“Public and private schools vary, and some items are considered attempts to influence grades, especially cash and gift cards used as cash,” says Schweitzer.

Before we get into the list, however, it is important to figure out how much money to put in the gift card. Most teacher gift cards fall between $10 and $30, but there is no required amount for a gift card — we're sure they would appreciate any and every amount you want to give! There's no pressure for an amount.
