It's the final day of our School Board Appreciation week in Georgia. Mr. Mark Ivory was elected to the Board of Education in May 2022 and serves as the District 6, At Large Representative. He is also a former teacher, coach and athletic director in Houston County. When asked what he brags on about our District, he said, “I tell everyone that Houston County has the BEST school district in the State of Georgia. I’m proud to be a part of a board who believes in preserving the quality of education for our current and future students.”Thank you, Mr. Ivory, for dedication to our District!#continuouslygrowinghouston#schoolboardappreciationweek

“My Mummy works in a school, but she's not a teacher” – my daughter, aged 7. This got me thinking, how do I explain to my 7-and 4-year-old what I do? Answer Attempt #1: Mummy is a Storyteller. Pretty accurate, right? One aspect of my role is having the responsibility of capturing and sharing the essence of my schools through narratives, experiences, and moments. Together with my team, we weave stories of our students, staff, and the school itself, highlighting achievements, challenges, and aspirations. And through storytelling, we bring life to the values, culture, and identity of our school, helping others to understand and connect with what makes us special. It's about painting a vivid picture of who we are and the impact we have, one story at a time. That’s why I am incredibly proud to share the launch our Create Your Story campaign, where authenticity became the guiding principle of our brief. Too often, we see marketing efforts focus solely on showcasing facilities, products or numbers neglecting the authentic stories that breathe life into statistics. Our mission was clear: show, don't tell. Go take a look, let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/ecYQUgNk #CreateYourStory #BrandStory #CreativeCampaigns #StrategicStorytelling

At Saint Louis Sudbury School, students are free to ask questions, learn from, and hang out with students and staff of all ages. Sudbury model school graduates often comment about how they are comfortable talking with their professors, supervisors, and co-workers of different ages. When have you worked with a team who were all the same age? This is a great behind the scenes moment of a younger student asking for help about possibly changing a school rule. He wanted to know about the wording of the current rule, how to make a motion in School Meeting to change it, and help writing the item on the School Meeting agenda. Are you interested in exploring Self-Directed Education in a democratic learning community for your child? Want to see your child reignite their love for learning? Provide them with an opportunity of time and space to discover themselves and prioritize their well-being? Schedule a tour of Saint Louis Sudbury School this spring, consider a Visiting Week in the spring or summer, and enroll in the fall! https://lnkd.in/gfpwApCX(Note: a few spots remain for this current School Year.)

I remember the first time, years ago, that I heard “we need to empower and engage the frontline”.It struck me as odd.“But I know my colleagues”, I thought, “they ARE engaged outside of work, they are creative and joyful…outside of work, they are collaborative and passionate…outside of work.”✨ Maybe it’s not an employee problem, maybe it’s a work environment one! ✨➡️ What if we didn’t have to “empower and engage the frontline” because we never stripped students of their power, curiosity, and autonomy in conventional school systems?Leaders would no longer need to “make it safe to ask questions” because we never learned that it was unsafe…Leaders would quit relying heavily on extrinsic motivation and carrot/stick approaches because we didn’t learn to chase a “gold star” over our own creative passions…Leaders would feel safe admitting they ‘don’t know’ because they never learned their worth was directly tied to school grades…What if?Yes, I work with CEOs to redefine business success by challenging their own preconceptions. But where do you think many of those preconceptions originated?***Respect humanity (including children!).Improve work.Continuous Improvement without the Other CI, Consciousness Improvement, is unsustainable (and unfulfilling and outdated and expensive and frustrating and…)Let's experiment together:www.theotherci.com***#theotherci#continuousimprovement#consciousness#executive#leadership#ceo#executivecoaching#sudbury #education #consciousleadership#tps#lean#manufacturingexcellence#respectforpeople#futureofwork#change#management#respecthumanity#improvework

Today I met with other Oklahoma Charter Leaders, and after our regularly scheduled meeting, the stragglers were discussing staffing and expansion. It didn’t take long for a common thread to emerge, #perspectives .All of our #charterschools are all different sizes; but we all have similar issues. It’s interesting for me, a smaller charter school, to see that others who are larger are facing similar issues. We talk about #’s without realising that when I say 6 staff and another leader says 90, we’re talking about the same % of staff. No matter you’re size, large or small, you’re organization will have the same difficulties. Don’t get bogged down in comparing yourself to the “big guy,” because they have the same/similar issues on a different scale. The other common thread was our #focus on #students. All of our organisations are all focused on the same thing; to provide an exceptional educational experience for all of our students, and that we’re in the business of doing what’s best for kids. It’s good to have varying perspectives in a group as long as you have a common goal! I’m so happy to be a part of the OK Charter Association and work alongside other people who want to focus on educating kids, and leaving our egos at the door. Don’t let yourself become blind to others opinions just because they don’t necessarily align with yours, try and find the #commonground

I am inspired by Principal Jarell L.'s thought-provoking blog posts, where he fearlessly addresses the crucial topics we often overlook. In his latest piece, he sheds light on an issue that requires urgent attention - the need for adequate funding in our schools. Principal Lee highlights a common misconception in our society, where schools are expected to fulfill a myriad of roles without receiving the necessary resources to do so effectively. But how do we make this a reality?#Education #FundingMatters #StudentsDeserveBetter

Nearly 70 years after the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, separate is still “inherently unequal.” Educational resources remain correlated to a school or district’s whiteness, and schools remain as racially segregated today as they were in the late 1960s.Desegregation is one of the few proven strategies in achieving education resource equity. That’s why Brown’s Promise, housed at the Southern Education Foundation is igniting a new conversation around school desegregation and creating an ecosystem of education equity advocates to focus on state-level litigation as a catalyst for change. ✅We can end school segregation.✅We can transcend boundaries.✅We can stop school gerrymandering.✅We can fully fund schools.✅We can thrive together.Learn more about us here. 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/gqnFZivK
