"The decision, in part, is about refocusing on other categories like professional audio, video, and OTC hearing aids, all of which are areas where Jabra has fewer competitors and commands a much greater market share."

One has to but wonder how long before others follow suit… Make no mistake, the island mentality will cause others to abandon ship. The divide between prescription HAs and OTC being pushed by manufacturers and the audiologist community, lack of HA professionals across the world esp remote areasNo organized reliable remote testing strategy, andFrankly poor quality/ performance otc devices coming into the market (as evidenced by several factual reviews courtesy HearAdvisor and Abram Bailey ) are the nails in this coffin. ISHA in India went one step further and argued successfully the OTC HAs be banned as they could cause irreparable hearing damage without a hearing professionals oversight (there’s some truth to it …) - never mind that there’s no organized remote hearing strategy and the population is significantly rural…etc. Why can’t we dispense with the divide, work diligently on technology that assists HAPs to accurately and reliably diagnose and program HAs via teleaudiology and then have the marketplace open up for both “prescription “ and OTC HAs? The served market is anemic compared to the need as I’ve stated in other posts and getting wider.Am I being naive?cc Vinaya Manchaiah De Wet Swanepoel Frank Lin BestNM

As I know Jabra is one of the big 10 in earbuds. As such, the brand has a value to the consumers, I suppose they will try to sell / licence the brand.

Makes absolutely sense - this has long become a red-ocean market. Jabra should check again if the OTC hearing aid market is headed in the same direction - I believe it is.

Now this is big news! Surprising. The competition is very intense in that market.

This could address one of the main drawbacks to using AirPods Pro as hearing aids and get people much closer to all-day battery life. 10-14 hours on a single charge if Apple is able to accomplish a doubling of battery life.
